Your Silence is Killing Me
I attend Greater Kingdom International (greaterkingdominternational.org) and my pastor (Bishop Tino W. Smith) preached a great message on Father's Day, titled "Silence in Deadly". I was inspired by the message and wrote the following:
Your Silence is killing me.
Wanting to be a virtuous woman, I have waited for you to take charge.
Waiting for you to say something, anything that will make me feel secure in the madness that surrounds us.
But, so far you have remained silent, and I, I am forced to move.
Yes, I know I am strong, but I’m hoping you are stronger.
I need you to be stronger.
I’m waiting…
Every time a look or a word is exchanged a deafening silence follows that threatens to choke my spirit.
It’s killing me…(inhale)
I would love to hold you and give you comfort, that’s what I was made to do.
But can’t you see that every time you look at me with questions in your eyes, searching for an answer, you make me feel less confident, less secure in who you are.
Please speak.
Please SPEAK.
Please SPEAK!
Centuries of being the head, when I’m supposed to be at your side, I’m tired.
Please Speak.
Why am I forced to look outside of my culture to find my equal?
Please SPEAK!
Brother, you are so beautiful, intelligent and so strong, so why are you afraid? Why do I intimidate you?
Please speak.
Why do you waste your youth and strength on common women, when virtue and elegance is staring you in the face?
Please SPEAK.
Brother, I’m still waiting for you, but your indecisiveness makes you less attractive to me.
How can we possess the land if you will not SPEAK the WORD of GOD into our lives?
Please…I’m begging you…SPEAK!
I’m dying.
I’m being killed by your lack of action.
Please…
The womb that longs to carry your children remains empty because I refuse to be abused, or to allow myself to settle for a man-child.
If you won't speak…I will!
Do you want to be in GOD’s will? I do.
Don’t you want a home filled with love, and a family that is strong and blessed;
A helpmate at your side who adores you and believes in you, respects you NEEDS you?
You are the strength of the family and nation, but where are you? I can’t hear your voice.
Please, Brother…SPEAK into my life, because your silence…
